Uefa Cup - Toon Army march on

Newcastle United are in to 11/4 with Victor Chandler to win this season's Uefa Cup as the competition reaches the semi-final stage.

Sir Bobby Robson's side set up a last four meeting with Marseille after goals from Alan Shearer and Gary Speed helped the Magpies to a 2-1 quarter final victory against PSV Eindhoven.

The result means that Newcastle have reached the semis of a European competition for the first time in 35 years.

"It seems a long time ago since United laboured to victory against minnows Valerenga," said Victor Chandler’s football spokesman David Garbacz.

"Marseille will be tricky opponents but Newcastle are a match for most at St James's Park and Robson will surely fancy his chances of getting past the French over two legs."

Conquerors of Liverpool, Marseille, secured a superb 1-0 win at Inter Milan to see their outright odds tumble to 10/3.

Valencia, who overcame Bordeaux 4-2 on aggregate, remain Chandler’s solid favourites at 5/4.

"Valencia are rock solid at the back and have the best midfield of the sides left in the competition. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win both the Uefa Cup and La Liga this season," he added.

Valencia now meet fellow La Liga side Villarreal, who beat Celtic 3-1 on aggregate.

The Uefa Cup semi-final first legs take place on April 22.

Uefa Cup outrights:
