Riazor men so sharp

The Galician coastline is infamous for its shipwrecks and it proved to be an equally fatal destination for AC Milan as the Italian giants were sent crashing onto the rocks of Deportivo La Coruna's Riazor stadium.

Written off by almost everyone, especially the layers, Deportivo turned in a storming display in their Atlantic stronghold to earn a stunning 4-0 victory that now sees their Champions League odds hacked down from 40s to 15/8.

That 5-4 aggregate result means Milan go the way of Real Madrid and Arsenal who were also surprisingly were bundled out at the quarter final stages.

"We were so confident of Milan progressing that we quoted them at 6/5 to win the competition before this match," said Victor Chandler's spokesman David Garbacz.

Deportivo will now meet Porto in an all-Iberian semi after the Portuguese overcame Lyon.

Milan's elimination means that Chelsea are now the competition's new favourites at 13/8.

"Chelsea were 12/5 before the Deportivo match but now that the Italians are gone they are worthy favourites," said Garbacz.

Chelsea play Monaco in the other semi-final.

Champions League outrights:

13/8 Chelsea
15/8 Deportivo
7/2 Porto
5/1 Monaco.
