Jimmy White is now down to 22/1 for World Championship glory after an
emotional victory in last weekend's Players Championship, his first victory
in a world ranking event in 12 years. The 'Whirlwind' has been a revelation
this season, and must feel that he has a genuine chance going to the
Crucible, where he has been a beaten finalist six times. Only Ronnie
O'Sullivan has collected more ranking points this season, and he is our 7/2
favourite. The 'Rocket' looks to have an opening tough match against up and
coming Stephen Maguire, winner of this season's European Open title in
Malta. Sunday's losing finalist Paul Hunter is confident he can make amends
for blowing a big lead in last year's crucible semi-final against Ken
Docherty.
